Acupuncture is typically thought of as a treatment for pain, and it is good for that.
But can acupuncture treat other diseases in dogs and cats? What about internal medicine types of diseases?
I successfully treated a dog in end-stage kidney failure with acupuncture. No miracles were worked, but her numbers did go down when nothing else was working. In Sept I was told by specialists she had 30 days to live, and she lived (happily!) until Valentines Day! So acupuncture gave this old dog in kidney failure many extra months, and they were GOOD months!
We can also treat constipation or irritable bowel syndrome (usually diarrhea) with acupuncture. Cats tend to have more of these problems, and many tolerate acupuncture well!
